Heavens, I've been so out of pocket lately! Where have I been, you ask? Lounging on the beach in Tahiti? Climbing mountains in central Idaho? Searching for the Fountain of Youth, perhaps?
Nope. I've just been at work. A LOT. And when I'm not at work, mostly I've been doing schoolwork. A LOT.
So sorry for the lapse in service...and for anyone whose emails I have been unresponsive too...I hope to get my life back in order any day now. :)

Speed Skating!
Because of an unfortunate death in Jon's extended family, this week found the in-laws on their way to Denver, so were at our house when we arrived home after the concert! We knew we'd be up late with the concert so had pre-scheduled the day off, so were able to spend the day lolly-gagging around town like we too were retired. They were back on the road Wednesday morning, but will be back next week for their housesitting appointment!
We walked downtown to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then what else to do? Well, the aforementioned World Winter Games are in town (and so brightly hailed behind my husband!) so we decided to go check out the speed skating event!
We watched the trial races for both men's and women's speed skating. We had the cheering sections for Team Korea on our left, Team Germany on our right, Team Canada behind us, and Team Chinese Taipei in front of us! Here are athletes from France and the Netherlands, I believe. As usual, I offered a little more exuberant support for Team Netherlands! VP Biden will be in attendance tomorrow at the figure skating finals and medal ceremony, but a dullsville agency meeting tomorrow will keep me from doing a little veep-spotting. :(
My Early Valentine's Day Gift!
I had to officially close the gate on accepting any more Valentine's gifts, pleas, or bribes, as it would have been pretty hard for another suitor to beat one Mister N's early V-day offering of VIP tix to Monday's Michael Franti & Spearhead concert! VIP tix meant special balcony seats away from the riff-raff, a dedicated waitress, and a semi-private bathroom! The show was a benefit for the Special Olympics World Winter Games, going on in Boise thru Saturday, so the $ went to a good cause.
The show was AWESOME! The food and drinks were AWESOME! The company was AWESOME! We had SUCH a fun time.
I was wise to accept this Valentine offer!

I'm Kind of a Heavy Sleeper.
Around 4:30 in the morning I awoke to find both my husband and Miss G all wigged out and wide-eyed. Apparently moments before there had been quite a loud boom! that woke them both and gave our house quite a shaking. Or so I was told--I heard nothing. We learned it was a natural gas explosion about four blocks from our house. No fire, but two people were flown to the burn center in Salt Lake. Yikes!

That's Just Grout
Last weekend my handy husband successfully completed step 112 on the bathroom remodel: grouting the tile. Probably among the least sexy of the tasks, but someone has to do the dirty work.
And since he had some time to kill, he added a dimmer switch to the lights (but separate from the fan switch), for mood. Ooh la la.
My words of gratitude? "Thanks for all your hard work...and I'm glad I'm not married to a doofus."
Up next on the remodel list: Sealing the grout!
