So Long, Key West!

So long tiny geckos...
So long, silly Key West chickens, and tiny silly Key West baby chickens (both are protected species on the whole key)...

So long, Hogs Breath Saloon. We hardly knew ye...

So long Secretary General of the Conch Republic...

I'll be back in Florida in a few days, but not to the Keys... :(

And not with my partner in crime...Thanks for the fun times, travelin' Dad! SO MUCH FUN! We'll catch ya on the flip side of further travels ahead...!

The Dove of Peace

We released one from a basket. OK, this young girl did.

I took pix.

With my excellent...

 16 shots per second setting.

So long, dove of peace.

Leisure

There's also leisure aboard a boat.

As I posted on FB: "I am away from my desk." :)

One of my fave pix of the trip...and I took it accidentally.

Lovely.

“Look at that sea, girls--all silver and shadow and vision of things not seen. We couldn't enjoy its loveliness any more if we had millions of dollars and ropes of diamonds.”  ~ LM Montgomery.

Captain Dad!

So many boats just kickin' it outside of Key West.

Participation is not so much for me, but Dad was all over it. He **might** have been in it to stand next to blondie there. ;)

Captain Dad keepin' an eye on things.

Naw, this is the real Captain. He seemed equally proficient.

Let's go boating always. :)

The Western Union

Ah yes, the Western Union. The flagship schooner of the state of Florida, and one of our last big adventures.

I love boat parts.

Including this little duckie pole holder. :)

Lots of rope is needed on a boat.

LOTS of rope. And weird beards too.

This was our...ahem...entertainment. We had to listen to him for a good part of the sail.

Luckily, later in the sail he had to listen to drunk guy. Hahaha.

LOVE sailing.

Pirates!

We enjoyed the Mel Fisher museum immensely. Not only did he find a Spanish galleon worth $450 mil, but he was a pretty interesting pioneer in SCUBA too.

But upstairs, there was a hilarious "pirate" museum. At the point at which I am able to declare for my ownself, "Kiss my a$$, I bought a boat, I'm going out to sea," this might be one of my flags. Just FYI.

Worst typesetting ever. "I later knighted him."

Annnnd then the craziness starts.

Seriously?

And then we degrade into complete madness.

Schooner Wharf

Love Schooner Wharf.

Love docks.

Love drunken shrimp (shrimp steamed in beer) sold by the pound. Cheaply.

The view from our table at the Schooner Wharf, where we had drunken shrimp.

The Western Union? Hmmm...

Love tarpon. Big, weird, underwater tarpon.
