The site at Tulum is estimated to have been constructed between 1200 and 1450.
I want to go to there. ![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQcorix2vBNK1_XsKqRy9oOG4-rRBAznjWkjd_9YBS9WCelwQ_UgP1M4bGuL2SzP_iqXLcOe_Rv0He5ErMwGxo70YC1SMLb94yxnBuiA-DLQ66MLlS7ofP44XdhyAO2YOhN9AMOPk6XXw/s400/DSCN6189.JPG)
I wasn't sure if those handprints were from hundreds of year ago or spray paint from last week. But I like 'em.
TulĂșm is also the Yucatan Mayan word for fence, wall or trench, and the walls surrounding the site allowed the Tulum fort to be defended against invasions. I don't think they meant that little wood fence. ![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSqRuvu_ov3PMnj5_LiYym004L1gGc-1EKCD7JVtbB3XdsG4DasePKgA4Q2jaK8f2hZko_k5xoSfZAX6ZH1HE4jN4tJQ5wviRzB-XxWbLiqGl1uahtsv-RUanwCED8mJciggxG5bg4P-k/s400/DSCN0073.JPG)
